We chose this topic because most people didn't know the consequences of doing drugs and they don't know how to prevent them.
You might think that stopping the addiction to drugs is easy but that is incorrect. The way drugs get you addicted is by interfering with the neuron movement. Drugs also interfere with processing signals in the brain via neurotransmitters. Crazy enough, drugs affect your speaking receptors, hearing receptors, and the messages in your brain.
Did you know that Cocaine is the most used drug?
Unfortunately, studies have shown that about 62% of teens got exposed to drugs. Also unfortunately, it's shown that about 7% of teens actually take drugs. Next unfortunate fact, roughly 39% of young adults take drugs. Finally, studies have shown that about 20% of people that are 26 years old or older take drugs.
For our action, we hung up flyers saying to not do drugs around our neighborhood. For me, Milo, I hung up posters on a pole near my house, an active passion, and some coffee shops. The text we wrote on the poster follows...
"Let’s be real, if you don’t do drugs, you’re probably fine. On the other hand, if you do, it may have already changed your mentality. Drugs may be more deceiving than you think. You may think that when you take drugs it’s really easy to stop. Wrong. Drugs actually go through your bloodstream to change the adrenaline reactors in your brain. You’d want to keep taking drugs and it turns into an instinct. Even if you want to quit drugs, your brain still wants to do it. If you’ve taken drugs, you should definitely see a drug rehab center like Alcoholics Anonymous."
1. A lot of people misunderstand the addiction statistic of drugs
2. People don't know about drug rehabilitation centers like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) to help stop addictions
3. People don't know how big drugs could be in their life
